Can you imagine how this individual will feel when he finds out what he really bid on in this auction?

Yep, it always pays to read the descriptions.

I buy tons of Transformers off of ebay. I only buy from people with a ton of positive feedback.

So did I. LOL. Anyone can rip you off, I guess you might just learn that the hard way.

Did you file a grievance with eBay or PayPal (if you used it to pay for your auction)? It may seem like a lot of time and paperwork, but you can recooperate some of your losses if you go through the process. Of course, all of this hinges on whether or not your case is legitimate. I don't expect the buyer of the heatsink above to file a grievance with eBay for thinking he was going to receive a processor. If he does, eBay will say, "Sorry, read the entire item description before buying."

That's not good; that buyer's going to be very unhappy. Then again, the seller shouldn't have had his CPU in the picture, either.

This was years ago, once I paid via Money Order, once I sent it, I never heard anything from them again. Another time I won an auction, and the person didn't reply to any of my emails. eBay is just way to risky for me. I'd rather buy the product from a well-known online shop or retail store.

I've bought numerous pairs of shoes off eBay with no bad transactions yet. You just have to be smart on what you bid on and watch out for the tons of counterfeit items on there, especially Jordans.

WTF, you bought shoes on ebay!!

How the hell do you know they are going to be comfortable, and I don't think the seller is going to let you return them!

You just go to a store, try the shoes you are interested on and see which size is best for you. Then go online and shop for them.

It does say "Athlon XP 2500+ Heatsink" Most people would know that it is just the heatsink for a XP2500+ but it could be read as XP 2500 plus heatsink. I think the picture with the CPU in teh package is really misleading.

Notice that the seller and first bidder have 0 feedback. Definitely looks like a deliberate scam on this one.

Not at all. Shoes have different cuts, the exact same shoe with the exact same sizes could have been cut differently to make it less comfortable. This has happened to me. Whenever I need shoes, I just go to the store, try on what looks comfortable, and when I come across a comfortable one, I buy it, try it out at home before wearing it outside, and if I still like it a week later, I keep it. Since it hadn't been worn outside, if I don't like it a week later, I can return it. This happened to me once when I had to return it because it just wasn't comfortable a week later.

Are you refering to me, as I made several valid points. Few of which can even be argued.

I think the post was probably in reference to the people who bid on the heatsink. All of your points are very valid and I agree with you 100%.

I feel sorry for the guy who bid on that!!!

PS: Funny that ebay was mentioned here at this point in time:
I just posted my first item for sale (piece of high end audio gear), after being registered for four years.
I always sold stuff through BST forums, since it is free and you can end it whenever you like.
They are only for PC gear however.
I won't post the link to the auction, since I am not sure links are allowed.

Someone bid $1 so far! :)

I am sure my (0) feedback will prevent many potential bidders from bidding :(

I think not posting it should be against forum rules. LOL.

Go ahead and give VEFF a temp ban of 5 minutes. See how he does without his CDRLabs fix for 5 minutes. LOL, J/K.

Thanks Ian!

All of a sudden there are 4 bids on it (this is before this post, in case I edit it later).

Here is the link.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... gory=14981

One recently sold (just three or four weeks ago on ebay) for US$950. My reserve is lower than that, mainly because the dts is not working, even though it is probably a $60 fix + shipping.
There is also one without the dts decoder, up to more than $300 with over three DAYS to go, which isn't bad considering many bid at the last minute...

If there are any audiophiles here, I can deliver it to Northern NJ or NYC.

:) I do love my cdrlabs fix.
However, I wasn't on much this entire weekend.
I logged on Saturday morning, which is when I sold my DVD changer to dvd-boxer.
I then went for a road trip with my girlfriend on Saturday and didn't come back till late evening. I took my parents out for dinner yesterday.
I didn't log on again till this morning I think - almost two full days without my fix...

Shoes may vary from one to another but not more than a +-5% error, if they do ther are damage merchandise. You should also consider at what time of the day you went to buy your shoes, since in the morning your feet is "smaller" than in the evening. This is due to the expansion of the feet due to presion and heat. Althought this is not too much and it can't be ignored.
