How do you teach a baby to eat solid food?

I'm trying to figure out how to feed my daughter some solid food. She doesn't know how to eat it, and treats it like formula. We're really stumped. Any tips?

How old is she? If I remember correctly, for my daughter we started with fruits. Start with crushed food juices in semi-solid state but don't add any sugar. (Let me confirm this sugar story anyways.)

HTH.

That's what we did with my daughter. It didn't take too long for her to take to it.

Check out the Gerber site. You should be able to find some tips there. If you can't find anything there, the Parenting Community Forum is a great resource.

Good Luck, UALOneKPlus!

Btw, try to give your daughter more natural / home made food. We never buy any canned food for babies and make everything at home.

F1, Parenting site looks nice, thanks. You guys also might want to check out http://www.babycenter.com

Thanks F1Pilot & integspec!

My daughter and I were really sick the last couple of days. We slept most of the days, and I didn't get to do anything but pop Tylenol Cold and drink hot chocolate.

I'll try the feeding thing in a week or so when my daughter feels better.

Merry Christmas!!!!

Thanks for asking :D

Yea we are better. Not completely healthy, but much better.

The baby's not quite eating solid food yet. She sort of sucks it in, I guess. I think she likes it. It's a good start though!

Hang on to your hat! You ain't seen nothin' yet, UALOneKPlus!

My daughter is 35 and she has already taught my 18 month grandaughter all the tricks. Now they've both got me so totally wrapped it's unbelievable! :D

LOL! I remember you saying that about your daughter in a previous post. Isn't it the truth, though? I think the bond with a daughter is different from one with a son. Dunno what it is.

I have a bunch of friends in law enforcement. My daughter has all of these aunts and uncles that swear that they'll make her the most dangerous girl in the world.

The wrapping continues.

About two hours ago, our grandson (4 this April) calls and asks my wife (whom he has totally wrapped) if I can come and get him so that he can stay the night. Well, there is no saying no to that, of course, so we're back. Then, a little while ago, he says to her: "Nonny, I love youuuu."

And he has her so wrapped that she'll give him anything he wants.
