New Forum Sections

I figured I'd post this here since this is where most of the forum's more active users hang out.

Anyway, I'm thinking of adding/removing some of the forum's sections. Sections for software like CDRWIN and CloneCD could probably go and I wouldn't mind adding sections on video editing, DVD mastering, etc. Would you like to see sections for specific hardware brands (Ex: Lite-On, Plextor, etc)?

Give me your feedback!!

LiteON might need their own section with the amount of LiteON specific software that is available! and Aviationwiz would never let it go if you didn't add a Plextor section to counter-balance :P

I would also *LOVE* to see a DVD mastering forum, for discussions on how to author DVDs with "funky features" like menu's and easter eggs and stuff. :D

DVD Mastering forum would be great. I don't think we really need a brand specific hardware forum though. We can get rid of the CDRWin and Clone CD forums for sure.

I would be extremely pleased to have a forum on video editing, capture, and so on. I'm new to this and sharing experiences with others would be most beneficial. :D

Another vote for the DVD mastering/backup/creating!
As for brand-specific hardware sections...I don't think we need it.
But what we do need is a section for KPrope/CDSpeed/etc - one just for CD error checking. That'd be cool :)

A Linux section would be nice...but I think I'd be pretty lonely there! Only me and a couple of others. Ah well...

I think it would be a good idea to add sections for video editing and DVD mastering. Maybe a forum for error checking software (CDSpeed, KProbe, etc) would helpful, too.

I don't think that forums for specific brands of hardware (Lite-On, Plextor, etc) would be helpful, though. I've seen this type of thing on other web sites, and I never liked it. But, that's just my opinion. :)

I agree that a Linux section would be useful, too, but I'm not sure if everyone would agree with me.

NTI can go as well.

I agree with the video mastering as well. Some place to be able to talk about different types of video editing software, like Pinnacle. I'm just getting into this and having to do a ton of research on my own.

Separate sections for Lite-On and Plextor would be nice, with all the other stuff going into CDR/RW and DVD-Recordable. Remove NTI,CDRWin and CloneCD, even the CD-ROM section if you're feeling adventurous!

I don't think that any forum where the topics on the first page go back to 1969 ( ) is all that active. To retain the old posts, why not combine
- CloneCD/DVD
- NTI
- CDRWIN
into an "other burning programs" forum?

I'd prefer not to have hardware-specific forums. There's really not the volume here and it's easier to keep informed with a single forum.

DVD mastering /editing etc. sounds good.

I think if you add separate sections for Lite-On and Plextor then you would have to add sections for all major manufacturers. That would only be fair, right?

I suggest not having a separate forum for every drive manufacturer, based on the reasoning above, and based on the fact that I think too many individual forums is an overkill. Do you know why I don't frequent CDFreaks' forums? Because they have too many individual forums. That's not meant to take anything away from the CDFreaks site, it's a great place to gather info, but I prefer the compact size of CDRLabs' forums. The message boards here are neat and tidy with no overkill. There is no need to add a separate forum for every topic imaginable.

Just my 2 cents

yeah, on second thought I'd like to change my vote from wanting a LiteON specific section to a section dedicated to error checking. That will include all the liteON stuff, but still leave room for Plextools and UM Doctor Pro II :D

i can't wait to see some of these forums die off. and to see the new DVD editing forum. sometimes DVDRHelp.org is too crowded to get good help

die off?

:o :o Why are you eager so see them die? OK, they've pretty well dried up, but if you're not interested, just ignore them.

Now that's a positive thought! :D

oh they just take up space.. IMHO and the forums look kind of cluter and not really used.

true, but the forums are'nt only for regulars.

they're also for people who come here with problems looking for help.

i still think the CD-ROM forum should be kept.

I agree with this idea the best.

Also a section on DVD Mastering would be great. :D

Are there any new software sections you'd like to see? Sections for Alcohol? Sonic software?
