I must say I do admire Nugent for being himself.Doesn't care what anybody thinx.That Oneida Screamin' Eagle Bow cost $300.00+.Oh well.Win some,lose some.He took a trip to Africa I heard and tried the biltong and wanted to start his own business with it.He thought that no-one else was doing it here in America.WRONG!!!We buy our Biltong from a South African family that makes it in North Carolina.It's so good it'll make you knock your momma away from the table.
Got some info on the Ibanez.It's NOT a gem as I thought,it is a Ibanez js-100 and has a "lo rez 2"tremolo or something like that.Talked to him a few minutes ago.Went to Guitar Center today and their tech told me you can't replace that Floyd Rose with anything else cause it was made only for the Floyd Rose.I look't myself and saw that he was right,big hole underneath the tremolo.No way a new fixed bridge would work.He did say he could rig somethin' up but then said the same thing as you,"better to keep it and get it workin' cause they sound great".He'll' rig it up for $40.00.Said it should stay in tune as long as you use the same gauge strings.My buddy luvs that gemsite you mentioned.He first is going to try and do it himself before takin' it to the tech.

If he has a JS100, then he has an EPII (Edge Pro II) bridge. It should be WAY easier to setup than the Floyd Rose...no worries about clipping strings or crimping. Sounds like the issue might be more along the lines of him needing to reset the bridge to a level position if he's utilizing string gauges other than what originally came with the guitar. If he uses heavier than stock, the tremolo will be lifted (arm close to body). If he uses string lighter than stock, the bridge should be dipped (tremolo arm jacked way up high). The trick will be in trying to get the bridge level, which in turn will take it to it's normal play height. That's not so hard to do either...just takes a lot of time.
THE original pain in the ass (Floyd Rose 1.0).
As for having the guitar rigged for a fixed bridge, tell him to sell the guitar and get a new one instead...less stress. As you know, messing with the structure of the guitar might change the intended intonation of the guitar to the point where it'll sound totally different.

Correct about the bridge,we can't get it level.We try to tune it bends up to a dangerous level and we have to back off.Also,that is the right bridge.His strings are light gauged but they still bend the bridge up(or out) away from the body.He says it sounds good but very clean(not like my duncans).Told me he paid $325 for it but will try to do the P.I.T.A bridge himself.He likes figuring things out.We've come very close to makin' are own pedals.Never happens though do to time constraints.I'm sending him this message to see if he can figure somethin' out.

For the sake of asking just because, has adjusting the tremolo claw (spring anchors) in the back cavity of the guitar (in this case, tightening the 2 screws) helped any?
Tremolo Claw
Tightening the screws will change the level of the bridge and cause it to drop TOWARDS the body. Loosening the screws will cause it to lift away from the body.
I'm not sure if it's an issue, but I have friends that change springs for the tremolo as a part of their maintenance routine (every few years), or have added 2 more springs or so.

I'll let him know here in a few hours and see what he says.That's a real good perception,I never thought of it.Makes sense.
I mean that thing bends up!!!!!Whewww!!!!
My guitar is much simpler(1971 tremolo though is not that reliable).

He still hasn't taken it to Guitar World but we tried it ourself and still no luck.Luckily he has another guitar or he'd go nutz.I still can't believe that he won't spend $40 to get it done.I talked to a kid that works at a guitar place yesterday and he said $40 was a damn good price.I've been gettin' him different music to practice to so he can get off that Motorhead,Misfits stuff.Sometimes it's toooo much.Got him some Venom,Blue Murder and that Soundtrack to Rockstar.Man it's a good soundtrack.Believe it or not his biggest request was early PRINCE(man he's a great axeman).
Went down to lakehouse where my guitar is stored at and decided to pick it up and see if it's still lives.A little rusty but I took it apart and mes't with the toggle and now seems to be fine(my main guitar these days is a fender acoustic,convienence).Just been lookin' for more music last couple of weeks.Pick't up tons of new(old)stuff to play along with.Too much almost.
