I had hair that was approximately 2-3 feet long and a beard that was about 3 inches long. I cut the hair to crew cut length and turned my beard into some huge mutton chops. Feels very weird.
heres some pics if anyone cares

i think you might have to trim your normal hair for it to look better. this way it flows, like it did when both hairs were long

Shave your face completely! Or, at the most, keep a goatee, moustache, or thin beard, whichever you think you look best with. Also, as Monte pointed out, cut the hair on top of your head to match what is on your face. Especially for a job interview, you'll want short hair!

I have cut my hair even shorter :( The mutton chops are stayin tho. If I cant have them at a job I probably shouldnt work there.I noticed you cant see my ears in those pics. I have 1/2 inch holes in them :D I will take them out for an interview.Off to job hunting I go.Will post new pic when I get home.

wicked, what kinds of job are you looking for?

To be quite frank, I wouldn't hire you with that. I couldn't stick you in front of a client. However, if you were going to be a CAD operator way in the back where clients never venture, it would be less of an issue.

Right now I am A+ and Net+ certified. Working on my MCSE certification.
Then maybe Cisco dunno about that one though. I still goto college(have been for 7 years! :o ) I have an appliance repair interview today. To be honest I dont care what kind of job I get as long as its a job.No drug tests are also a big plus. 8)

I got a job that I least expected today. A friend of my parents hired me at Peterson Distributing as a sales agent. We had to have a talk about appearances and he agreed to let me keep my sideburns as long as I trimeed them down and I got another haircut and no earings. I agreed. The thing that is bothering me now the most is that I have to wear a tie. I didnt own any and I am a big man (6'5-6'6 380 lbs) so I had to go to the Big and tall store and I spent 438 dollars on 3 outfits. No suit jackets just the shirt and pants.Damn.I knew it was going to be a little expensive but not that expensive. I am glad I had my brother with me for his credit card.(I dont have any after the bankruptcy)Here is me now before I goto bed and after alot of chopping on me.

I know this is turning a bit Queer Eye for the Web Guy, but some things that will work out well for you:

1. Shave the areas of weaker growth. It will make your chops look stronger and cleaner. When you have an area of weak growth, it gives it a "still trying" kind of look or "forgot to shave."

2. Since you have so much face hair that you want, getting your eyebrows cleaned up a bit would also strengthen the look of the chops and clean up the look overall.

3. You've got good eyes, you do want to draw attention to them. But they are getting kind of lost in dark bags around your eyes. Get some eye cream and apply for awhile. Once again, you will get a cleaner look that also lets attention be more focused on a strong, defined chop.

And when I say "cleaner," I don't just mean "work clean." I mean looking like you are clean kind of look. No matter how much one showers, stubble with determined facial growth looks dirty. So if you clean up the lines of the hair you have on your face, it will all look more defined and cleaner. Seems what you are seeking to accomplish, a decidedly different look. Should also make your new bosses happy as you will appear "cleaner" to them.

indeed looking much better now!

BTW i shaved a couple of days ago.
by which i mean i shaved my head, not (only) my face.
i use one of these electric devices, not a razor, so the hair is some 1mm (millimeter to the uninformed = 0.04 inches) long. i think it looks best at this length.

i like it best that way. i really should shave every 2 weeks or so, but usually i'm lazy and i only do it every couple of months. by then the plumage on the back of my neck is quite noticeable...like i said lazy.

Congratulations on the job!

You look much better in the 'final' photo.
The previous 'after' shots were definitely worse than the 'before' shots.
