I had my liteon 166 sitting on the floor with the ide cable stretched out of the case hooked to it as a temporary test unit. I tripped on a bunch of network cables and landed on it.Busted the ide cable too. Damn it! Now I gotta go grab my buddys 163 liteon he isnt using. I want to see what these Sony DVD-R's look like relative to some other discs in quality with Kprobe.Damn it.Thata sux.

Gee, and just after they released a brand new firmware for even further disc compatibility.

Sucks to be you, dude. At least they're not too expensive these days.

might give me a good reason to get a 8X liteon burner since they are only 70 bux. Get much better scans and besides that why do I need a drive that cant write too :P 8) I hit this old drive hard enough to make everything rattle badly when you shake it

8x Lite-On Burner? WHY? You already have a DVR-107!!!

Might I recomend replacing the LTD-166S with a Pioneer 120...

I have a 106 and 107 in my computer :) I was just referring to the fact you could do pretty good KPrOb3 scans with it instead of another ROM. And that would allow 3 simultanrous dvd burns at once which would be handy at times when I am in a hrry. Onlyt hing is that it doesnt seem to do tge dvd-rs as well as other drives and thats almost all I burn. I burn 20-50 dvd-r discs a week. Besides that like I sdia who needs a ROM drive every drive should be able to burn

Pass on the lite-on, if you want another dvd burner, a dvr-107 or wait for the px-712a/sa. That's the only good drives I see in the present and immediate future doing good DVD-R burns.
