I don't mind the matzoh with horseradish, don't mind it with the horseradish and apple mixture, but the parsley in salt water is just nasty. Makes my face contort.

that's just the point! it's supposed to taste absolutly nasty!

I know, tears of bondage and all that. But seriously, couldn't it be some tasty tears?

My experiences and research with the the seder and haggodah is that the salt water is to symbolize the tears shed as a result of slavery. What do you find it to symbolize?

being a secular Jew in Israel, i've never given it any thought.
it's tradition, and you just go through the usual routine without thinking about it too much.
i'm sure i've learned something about it in kindergarden or 1st grade or whatnot, but who remembers ?

the Parsley you referred to is called "Maror" in the Haggadah. the word "Maror" is derived from "Mar" which means "bitter" in Hebrew. or maybe it's the Horseradish that is the Maror? i'm really not sure. was it the red horseradish that is called "Chazeret"?

even here in Israel where Hebrew is spoken, i don't know what Maror is supposed to be. i mean, there's no such vegetable at the green-grocer. it's "represented" by some other kind of green, it varies, different people use a different vegetable for it.

yesterday instead of parsley in saltwater i had a turnip in saltwater.

I believe Maror is the horseraddish. We use celery for the parcley, beats me as far as the hebrew term goes. I like the apple mixture, can't remember the name, in my family, we call it the mortar.

You know what I wouldn't mind? Matzoh pasta. I spoke to some of my Jewish friends about this, but I couldn't get a clear-cut answer as to weather this stuff exists. If it doesn't, somebody should make it! It's a gold mine!

as i live in Israel, i'm probably as much an authority as anyone. if i haven't hread of it, it doesn't exist.

i think you can't make pasta out of Matza flour, has to do with the chemical characteristics of the flour.
they can't even make decent rolls out of Matza flour - their flavor is lousy and their texture/firmness is terrible!

a hamburger or a hot dog in a Matza-flour roll - yuck!
a pizza on Matza-flour dough - yuck!

That's a pity. On the bright side though, it's still cool to say Matzoh pasta! It rolls off the tongue.

judging by the flavor of Matzo-flour rolls, pitas etc. i would say that Matzo-flour-pasta would be terrible so it's not really a great loss

There is matzoh pasta. It is not pleasant.

It is kind of pasty. It just uses matzoh meal instead of flour. It is most like floppy motzah cracker/bread thing.
