Another ticket :(

Tonight was about the worst damn night in a long long time. I have had 7 tickets in the last 3 years.A few fleeing from the police and wreckless driving. My last ticket was 130 in a 60.I spent a day in jail over that one and had my car towed and liscense suspended for 6 months. Well I sold my 96 corvette at that time as it was a ticket magnet and anymore I lose my license for 3-5 yrs. Well I was doing good for the last year till tonight. My buddy decided to buy a gun off a friend who we were visiting. My buddy needed to goto the atm in town and it was already dusk. He wanted to get there and back before dark so we could shoot it today. He has a 2001 cobra mustang and asked me to drive since I would get us there sooner than he could. :D I made it about 2 miles before there was a car behind and in front of me with the disco lights going. They said they clocked me at 88 in a 50. Bullshit  I never got over 70 for this very reason.25+ over is wreckless driving and bye bye liscense.15 or under I can buy my way out of via ticket deferral. I was not going 88 mph. I had a very very heated argument with the cops. They proceeded in tearing the car apart for suspicion of drug use. Again pure bullshit  Just because I had on my cycle clothes they assumed I had dope.I told them to take me to jail if they are going to or otherwise write the damn ticket and get about their job. We were held there for almost an hour.We were told how lucky we were they didnt take us in.I had 2 nice words for the last sheriff one begins with F and the other Y. I am going to lose my liscense for 3-5 out of this :( They think they are making roads safer?hell next time I definately wont stop because prison aint happenin and I live almost 30 miles from any town which means I have no choice but to drive.Life f* sucks right now.

LOL.

You need remedial driving lessons.

How can you afford car insurance with so many pursuits & tickets ?

Getting caught up here in Ontario with out Auto Insurance is a minimum $5000.00 fine.

After a 'fail to stop for police' (pursuit) you would have been arrested up here. No warning, no quarter given. Car towed & impounded. A summons to appear in court. Your licence would be removed from you on the spot.

Failing the 'roadside attitude test' is also a sure way of getting the maximum fine possible. Maybe even pepper spray'd before they arrest you.

Having a firearm in the vehicle would bring far stiffer penalty's...hand guns are illegal in Canada, but obviously not in the US of A.

I'm a police dispatcher BTW.

130 in a 60? 88 in a 50? Come on, you need to go back to Drivers Education class, it's not that hard to stay at the speed limit. Not going 70MPH over the speed limit! It sucks, but in all honesty, I can't say I feel bad for you. It's happened before, and you've continued to ignore the consequences that would appear for another violation. Again, in all honesty, I'm actually glad that thier doing thier job and suspending your license, if it weren't for people like you that "harmlessly speed," we wouldn't have as many traffic incidents.

I dont believe that at all.I have had 2 corvettes and neither would do that. I had a 93 and a 96 they both topped out around 165.My budddys cobra tops out around 150.

hoxlund, don't take this wrong but just cause the tach says it's doin that speed doesn't mean it is.I knew a guy a few years back that had a Toyota mr2 and he thought it would beat anything just because it was supercharged and cause the tach said it would do 160,WRONG.Don't go by the tach.I don't know many cars with 300 hp that'll do 170.I guarantee the Lotus Esprit will run rings around the ole Lincoln and it has a V-8 with 300+ Hp.Ford makes a good engine but not that good or maybe it was with a strong tailwind in the desert. :D
wicked1,bud,slow down!!!

Again, don't take this wrong, but there's not a car out there with 305 hp that'll do 173.It's not in the math(i.e....cubic inches, compression etc..).If it got close it would burn the motor up,no doubts.Knew another guy with a 300z with the same amount of hp and it topped out at 136 mph and it was choking at the end.Check your PM,need to ask you about dual channel memory.

I totally believe you were movin,no doubts. When you you reach a certain mph point,an automobile tends to shake and rattle tremendously.I experienced it in mustang Gt in the late 80's at around 135 mph. What a scary experience.Cars that have the muscle to do 160 mph + doesn't actually mean you should.I'd never run a Viper at it's peak speed,I'd have to be on dope or somethin' better. One of my buddies from Georgia used to have a Honda CRX SI for a long while and back around 93' he'd drive down to Georgia Southern(college)in south Georgia. To get there you have to get on this desolate highway down there,Highway 16.He'd tell me that he'd get up to 130 mph consistently but I would take it with a grain of salt cause I knew that little car wouldn't get there without major engine burnup.CRX's are not racecar's!!!

I own a 1994 Acura Integra GS-R, which is finally paid off as of this past weekend. 152,000 miles, I've owned it for about 70,000 of them. And while I've never maxed it, I've had it up to 125mph at one point in my life when I was younger, and didn't have a significant other's welfare to think about.

I've had up to 9 points. I'm now down to 2. I don't intend to go back. Some of them were genuine mistakes (wrong place wrong time), and none of them were for reckless driving. Still, I learned a lesson. First off, if you're driving something sporty, don't drive it like you stole it. A Mustang Cobra, or a Corvette...both are obvious cop magnets. Also, don't build up a history of tickets. Makes it a million times more likely you won't get a ticket dropped in the future even if you play nice with the cops, because they'll see your record. Which leads to your next big mistake. You didn't play nice with the cops. If I was a cop, anyone that said "F--- You" would be ensured a citation for anything legitimate I could find wrong, and that's how most police operate. Better to stay calm under all circumstances even if you believe the cops are wrong. It's easy enough to disagree in a polite voice, and there's nothing a cop can tell a judge later about your attitude that way if you take it to court. I actually did get out of a ticket about eight years ago despite having a radar detector in my windshield (which I don't any longer, there's another something they'll note, even if it's legal) by staying calm with the officer and not running my mouth off.

I'm 30 years old and still paying $900-1,000 every 6 months for insurance. Why? Because of situations like the ones you're currently in. I learned my lesson. I'm telling you this so that hopefully you'll learn one from it as well. Fight the ticket if you truly believe you're in the right...but should you keep your license choose a cheapo car to drive that won't get you pulled over because of its bling bling or go-fast looks/capabilities. Geat cheap PLPD insurance so you don't get ganked, and because a cheapo car doesn't need expensive insurance. Consider a flashy car a reward for getting your driving record completely clear, if that's the kind of car you like. And keep the insurance up to date --all it takes is getting pulled over without it and you'll have one heck of a bill to pay. Not to mention that if someone gets in an accident with you and you don't have insurance, they can sue you for everything you own if you're in the wrong, and they can win.

I'm very fortunate that my 2 tickets I've had in my 15 years of drivin were 1st time offenses in 2 different states and were cleared off my record in 3 weeks and 3 months respectively.I'm fortunate cause I've got an old truck that I drive like a BANSHEE!!!!

ive been driving for about 6 years now, and the only ticket i got is a parking ticket for $50. I think driving in a lincoln really helps, not to many cops go after lincolns, thinking theres a old man behind the wheel

Ah yes.. I have quite the lead foot myself. By the time I went off to college, I had racked up a good number of tickets. Enough to have the judge tell me "I had a speeding problem."

I really don't speed that much anymore though. Of course, having a car that has a hard time reaching 80mph is part of it.

Being respectful of cops does help. While there are a number of a-holes out there, they're just doing their job. They're not out to get just you. They'd pull over the next guy going 100 in a 50 as well.

Foxlund there is no way on earth that a 94 Lincoln Mark VIII can go 173mph, unless it was HIGHLY modified. First reason being is they come governed at around 125mph second to get a 2 ton car to 173 mph you need a lot more that 305hp, I mean come on NASCAR is running around 185mph and their car is gutted, fiberglass, and have 700+hp. Even Ford's fastest affordable production car "2000 Cobra R" tops out at 170 the only thing that Ford makes that will beat that is the Ford GT at 230+mph for $150,000. You must have been looking at the KPH and not the MPH which mean you were actually going about 108mph.

I would of been alot more respectful if they were to me. Not to mention me and my passenger both saw I never got above 70. I NEVER go over 70 since all those last tickets.
