I hate Friends

I know its probably un-American to say this, but I don't like the show Friends. I don't see what the hype is all about. I've never liked the show and don't see why people are so sad that its over.

Now if it was the Simpsons... that would be a different story.

well, me and the wife liked friends very much...but it kind of wore off.

we have the last season showing here in Israel, and that was 1 or 2 years after the previous season was showing (fucking TV/cable people).
but we don't watch it anymore and (at first rather surprisingly) don't miss it!.

To me, Friends was one of those shows people watched because their friends and co-workers watched it. Just like that Raymond show.. another one I despise. It's not funny to me at all.

I hate MOST shows on TV with the exception of MXC on Spike TV.

TV takes up valuable time I can use for say: Groundschool or laundry or mopping the kitchen floor...

Friends & Signfeld: I've never seen an entire episode of either.

yuck <retching sounds>
that guy is a moronic idiot
but my wife loves it :( :o so i see it sometimes...
i must admit he does get a laugh from me every now and then.
but i still dislike his show.
(maybe partly because he hits a little too close to home for comfort with the mother-in-law thing...)

Must admit I've never seen the attraction either (and I can't see what some men see in Jennifer Aniston either to be perfectly honest).

I like my comedy shows manic, a little strange and subversive or just downright ironic. Whilst I've been told that Friends is ironic, I fail to see how it is myself. It just seems, in the words of Vyvian from "The Young Ones" (now there was a funny comedy), "it's just so bloody nice" (referring to a crappy little 70s Britcom called "The Good Life" which was equally popular and equally repugnant, but it describes Friends perfectly as well.

But you like Transformers, so you're balanced.

I didn't dislike Friends, neither a big fan. SciFi series are me, like Stargate or Star Trek's (except DS9).

I must admit that the new Transformers cartoons are horrible. Judging by the plots of these imported shows, Japanese children are idiots with 5 minute attention spans. But alas.. we'll never see the character development from the original 80's show or the in depth plots of Beast Wars.

Does anyone watch Arrested Development on Fox? That has gotta be the most messed up show on TV. For whatever reason, I seem to watch it every week.

I liked Friends, but it wasn't my favorite show, and I won't lose any sleep over it being off the air now, as far as NEW episodes are concerned.

I was a regularly viewer of friends, but I thought the last episode could have been better. It was still good IMO. Time to move onto other tv shows.

BTW, what's up with all the huge ass avatars around here lately?

If I were to speculate, Friends has a laugh track - all sitcoms do. I won't watch a sitcom, or any show with a laugh track. If they were truly funny, which they aren't, they wouldn't need a laugh track to signal me which is the part which is supposed to be funny, but isn't.

Slim
Who sees the concept of laugh tracked sitcoms as an oxymoron.

Check the other thread, I already said that you need a new one. I'm changing every day. You probably missed my daughter. I'll see if I can get her back - hang on.

I never liked "Friends". "Full House" was much funnier to me.

Am I the only person in the world that doesn't think Jerry Seinfeld is funny? He's right up there with Raymon on my "overrated comedians" list.

I was never a seinfeld or friends fan. I have seen a few episodes of seinfeld that made me laugh like the soup nazi but friends I have NEVER even seen a full episode. It was too pathetic.I am a HBO series junkie. The Sopranos rule as it hits close to home.6 feet under rocks.Carnivale was cool.Deadwood is cool. I must say HBO is my favorite channel.

I just said it was better, and that still doesn't make it great

well, i think seinfeld was GREAT.
it was one of the things that made the 90s.

i believe i saw almost all of the episodes (if not all of them), quite a few more than once.

Umm, you do realize that one of the great things about America is your right to disagree with the majority, and to have and express your own opinion, right?

I agree that Seinfeld is very funny, but the man himself is NOT, he is only there to make the central point of the show, (beside the fact that the show is based on his "comedy routine") it's more the characters like Kramer, George and Elaine that realy made the show funny, and the main reasons which made them funny and friends NOT funny (to me) is the fact that their characters are not "blended", what I mean to say is that they are so unlike each other.

They are so different from one another that you need them all to make the show what it is, all of them have their obvious quirks and differences, and it was that factor that makes the show so much better. In friends they are more or less the same as each other, (up to a point) only slight differences between them, so what you end up with a show with six charaters which virtually all talk and act the same, three bimbos (is it just me or does Phoebe look like a human chuppa chup? ) and three plain guys, with Chandler playing the "strait" role

As to Raymond! arrrrrrgggggggghhhhh! I watch the show but I CAN'T stand him! I don't know what I hate more, the way he treats his poor wife (the ONLY thing that makes the show funny) and kids, or just that dopey look on his face? lol and I can't stand the rest of the family either, his parents are so f-ing aggravating that I would love to see an episode (like a fantasy or dream sequence) where Debra goes around with a baseball bat and just bludgens the whole lot of them to death! (not the kids) now THAT would be funny
