With the new Hurricane season upon us, I thought I'd share some links and pictures.

Screw that. I ain't trying to muck with nature. Hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanoes, land slides, tidal waves, lightning. All of it will straight own you.

Gotta admit, makes me glad to live in the Great Lakes area. Plenty of people living somewhere else tell me how horrible I've got it during the winter (which, by the way, isn't all THAT bad) and how they'd never live here. When they do, I think how oblivious they are to the levels of unemployment, crime, rush-hour traffic, housing costs, or natural disaster occurrence where they live, and stay happy just where I am.

No kidding. The only thing I'm really afraid of here in the midwest is tornados.

We still get the occasional tornado here in Michigan, but it's far less than when I was a kid. Back then, I can remember the tornado sirens going off two times, maybe three in a summer. Now they seem to mainly hit outlying small towns, I haven't heard our sirens in years other than the first Friday of every month when they get tested at noon (assuming I'm not at work, which is 35 miles away).
