Eugene Hasenfus: where is he now?

I got to thinking about American politics the other day.

The Iran-Contra problem came back to me as a bad memory.

Anyone have any idea where the famous "Cargo Kicker" is today?

The Smoking Gun has an entry from Wisconsin, where he exposed himself to someone in the K-Mart parking lot in 2000.

Other than that, he's dropped out of sight.

I found it interesting that Kerry was one of the lead investigators on it back then. Kerry doesn't have a good record with the Bush family does he? He couldn't pin it on Bush Sr. and lost to Dubya.

You're old like me, if you remember Iran-Contra.

With his pants around his ankles?

What made me think of this was all of the hostage taking going on again.

For those old enough to remember, taking Americans hostage was a popular thing in the mid-east back in the 1970's and 1980's.
During Regan's time in office, over 14 people were held hostage. It started the arms for hostages boondogle called Iran-Contra. That combined with the fact that Regan was giving arms to a county who sponsored the bombing of the barracks in Lebanon which killed nearly 300 marines on Oct. 23, 1983

He was a mercenary, working for the CIA in central america.

Only because he jumped from the aircraft and lived to get caught by the government troops in Nicaragua. Everyone else died when the plane was shot down. An Air America handbook was located on the cargo plane.

Basically, the CIA was running cocaine in the 1980's and selling it to Americans @ home. They also sold 'defensive' weapons to Iran in exchange for influence in getting hostages released in the mid-east.

Because 1 man lived, President Regan, VP George Bush Sr. and a lot of others got into a LOT of trouble. Several attempted suicide before the inquest.

Basically, it was an 'approved' covert operation to sell the weapons. Regan himself approved it. They overcharged the Iranians, and used the profits to fund the rebel Contras in Nicaragua. They generated extra income by running & selling the cocaine. The contra funding was a covert op inside an approved covert op.

It was run by Lt. Col. Oliver North and retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Richard V. Secord from a basement office in the White House.

It was like a spy novel gone horribly wrong.

Yes, I tried a Google on him, but he seems to have vanished into thin air.
I guess mercenaries & CIA men know how to disappear if needed.

That's what I meant. He was a CIA non-employee who disappeared as did DB Cooper.
