Half-Life 2

Well I'm all proud of myself. I just finished Half-Life 2 all by myself without any walkthrough, cheats, or even hints.

This is a first.

It's a fabulous ride! Gee, ripping up a drainage canal system for miles in an airboat, then up a beach in a dune buggy; on and on.

I played Half-Life 1 years ago and loved it.

Now I hope they come out with another sequel quick!

The airboat sounds interesting.

I'll have to check and see if it works with my old P3 1ghz system.

1GHz system, good luck

maybe 800 x 600 with nothing turned on as far as eye candy

also yeah i beat this game last thursday, it was a kickass game all the way through

the ending was left wide open so expect a sequel

i just wish you could somehow use the new gravitron weapon throughout the entire game, the updated version that lets you pick up people and whip em around

I played 60% of it at 800x600 because I thought my system wouldn't handle it. The first thing when I ran it I got a message saying the chipset (Nvidia Gforce 4 420 Go) in my laptop may not work properly. I thought "You liars!' because they put only a Directx 7.0 compatible graphic card as a requirement. Then it crashed 1/2 of the way through the G-Man's opening statement. I tried a new driver and it wouldn't play at all. Then I rolled back the driver and turned off some background applications like my Logitech game pad controller and it RAN. cool.

Around 60% of the way through I switched to 1024x768 and it worked! Now I turned up the details to mediums (recommended) and it still works.

Cool, now I'm re-playing it at this resolution.

I agree with the gravity gun. Try turning on the console in the options menu and use the command 'sv_cheats 1' to activate cheat code ability. Then type in 'impulse 101' and you should get the gun.

I thought Alex was a babe! Woooohooo!

I missed the rail gun from the Half-Life '1' Take down an apachee in 2 shots!

I agree on the ending. I have the players desire to get my hands on that G-Man, bare handed! Let him wheeze on the end of my nuckles!

With a new engine they should be able to just whip up a new game a whole lot sooner; I hope.

later, Rich

What in another 4 years?

I heard that with all the controversy over the Steam authentication that next round they are just going to send someone to your house to play the game for you... #-o

Sigh.. my disc 4 was bad and there was a blob of crap on the bottom of disc 5. Gotta go exchange my copy.

That's what happened to me with UT4 #-o , so I got it exchanged for a dvd, and HL2, well - went straight for a dvd edition, learned the multiple cd lesson ...

Ah yes.. it looks like its a known bug with the installer. If you don't install CS:Source, it bitches about hl2.ico not being found. Stupid Valve..

Wow this topic stopped sending me notices.

Anyway....Alex is a babe.

She'll put up with you guys but she's hot for me!

=P~

The air boat rocks and the buggy's not too bad either.

The gravity gun is out-a-sight!

I think I saw a sweatshirt on one of those zombies that said he was
waiting for Ian ..... Ian's doomed.

I played it for about an hour last night. Graphically, it didn't blow me away like Doom 3 did, but the game play is great. Reminds me a lot of the original Half Life. I am having problems with my sound card when in 5.1 mode though. Audio is jumpy, etc.

I had to play at 800x600 and the details tweaked down a bit too. (on my toshiba laptop) Still it was such an incredible ride.

On the 2nd time around I figured how to NOT put that can in the trash.

I'd toss it right in his face until I could squeeze around him.

That felt so cool. "Put it in the can yourself!"

hahahaha
