This is probably best in the Beer Garden.

Can a MOD/ADMIN move the thread over there?

Just a pair of mice for my PowerBook, after using the MX-900 BlueTooth Mouse I didn't like beacuse is too heavy, batteries didn't last more than a week, and is less confortable, I bought a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse and a Wireless Intellimouse Explorer V2.

Now I use the receiver of the Notebook mouse with the Intellimouse, very confortable, I'll see how much batteries last, and just waiting to the Microsoft BlueTooth arrives arround here.

I came away empty. By the time my part of the line got in the door at CompUSA, @6:03, the Samsung 712N, LCD monitors were all grabbed. :(

Well, at least I won't have rebate forms to fill out. :D

Who is never going to a store on Black Friday again. :P

PNY Verto Geforce 6800 128MB at CompUSA. $230 on sale and a $30 dollar rebate to bring it down to $199. :)

EDIT: I was the first person in the door at my store. Don't ask what time I got up and stayed out in the freeze-your-@$$-off cold (note: layers are good, glad I wore them). Next year round I'll remember two things:

a) People get in line later at CompUSA than at BB.

2) Most people are not geeks; apparently even less so in my city. Since none of them in the first 20 in line other than myself knew what the heck a graphics card even WAS, next time I'll get there an hour later.

I missed out on the Chapelle's Show Season 1 box set at Best Buy, but they had 50% off all Fuji media. I scored 100 pack of 8x DVD+R and a 100 pack of 8x DVD-R for a total of $55. I also picked up my new Burton 5/3 coat I ordered, a pair of P1 bindings and ordered a new helmet.

I also get like 80 bucks in rebates if it all works out so final should be 39 bucks. Also slightly workin the system, with slick Deals and everyone elses help. :P

I was at Compusa at 4:40 am and when it opened at 6 I got 2 60 gig Compusa's hard drives for 29.99 each.

I immediatly saw false advertisement since the drives were only 2 meg buffers instead of the advertized 8 megs.

I squawked loudly and may or may not get an adjustment but either way I'm happy. (don't tell them) :-)

This will get my dead-for-a-year tower going again.

A guy in line with me said that stand alone dvd recorders can make dvd's on the fly (from vhs input) and output dvd's that'll play on stand alone dvd players. That sounds cool.

I wonder if Nero can do that with my ATI tv tuner as a source. If so I could port my VHS tapes directly to dvd, or atleast to an image then to the disk.

I'll put this question in the nero section.

Happy Turkey day Turkeys!

Rich

Edit: I'll do that in a day or so, I gotta crash.

Slim said: Who is never going to a store on Black Friday again. :P

aviationwiz said Nothing. Hate those damned lines.

I agree.

I am going to either order online next year (for stores like staples or CUSA that have BF deals online) or go later in the morning when the lines (and most of the hottest deals of course) are gone.
I spend, and also save (by shopping around), so much on other things in life, including expensive home improvement contractor work, that unless I can save a good amount of money on Black Friday and/or not be in line for too long, it simply isn't worth my time.
I saw the huge Best Buy line, after going to Staples, and didn't even bother.
I only went to staples, as opposed to ordering from staples.com like the savvy people who didn't want to fight for products and wait in the cold, because I didn't have my mother's * PC logon password and didn't want to wake her up at 6 AM.
* I slept over at my parents' place on Thanksgiving night - my house had been repainted by a contractor and I wanted to avoid the fumes for a couple of days.

Someone on a hot deals site noticed that THREE hot items (probably loss leaders) at Staples yesterday (Black Friday) and all sold out in a matter of hours online, are now, just 24 hours later, all THREE back in stock online, albeit at FULL price now since the sale has ended!

Remember this is online (i.e. warehouse which was supposedly completely out of stock early yesterday 8 AM )!!!

SanDisk 512MB Memory Stick Pro
521746 Tue 11/30 $119.98
Each $119.98

I/O Magic 16x4x16x Double-Layer Internal DVD+-R/RW Drive
575690 Tue 11/30 $129.98
Each $129.98

160GB 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive
504516 Mon 12/6 $129.98
Each $129.98[/Q]

Probably.
I understand they are losing money on some of the items, including most likely the DVD burners.
However, what I don't like is that they say "out of stock" when it really isn't.
If they had said up front we have 20,000 I/O Magic DVD burners (allocated) for BF; I would be fine with it if it was available the next day, as it is now, at full price.

Oh well, I wasn't desperate for that particular (or any) burner
at this point.
I'll see what comes up in tomorrow's sales.
I wouldn't mind waiting for the Toshiba 5372 reviews since it burns DL at 5X.

I would like to get a home DVD recorder next, so I can record TV shows conveniently.
I haven't recorded with my VCR in over 10 years, since I am usually busy enough with other things that if I can't watch a show live, i don't worry about it most of the time - I have used TV tuner cards to record certain TV shows and World Cup soccer etc.
I prefer a good movie on DVD to most TV shows / movies.

Staples.ca does the same thing.

Idiots. It really makes people mad.

I've heard from people who have actually gone into the store to get an item, staff tell them its out of stock, but the customer actually saw several units of it sitting behind the technology section desk before they asked the staff about it. Dishonest comes to mind.

But I've found that since Bestbuy.ca came up, Staples doesn't like to do the 150% price match anymore. I.E. They give you a hard time now, and even deny it in some cases. I was denied it even though I had the BB flyer in my hand. So, BB got my business.

I got the Airlink 802.11g router for $15 at Fry's, and a PCMCIA card for $10.

Not too shabby :)

Well I bought the 2 Compusa 60 gig hd's for 30 bucks apiece and complained to the manager that they actually only had 2 megs cache instead of the advertised 8 megs.

On the following tuesday he called and left me a message which I took advantage of on thursday. I got a $30 gift card to compensate me.

I'm all happy now!
