I'm glad to see that there are still some places in the world where a vicious overly paranoid old lady can still get some justice when 2 sweet natured teenage girls decide to spontaneously deliver free freshly home baked cookies to all their neighbors:

Sadly, other generous and giving members of the community decided to pay the court imposed fine of nearly ~$1000 US, with enough left over to donate to charity, thusly depriving the poor old fruit bat of her "sweet victory" :

It doesn't sound like that lady was that old. She had an 18mo baby at home. It sounds like she's just a crazy bitch looking for a pay off in court. Gotta love America.

I tried looking up Wanita's phone number but couldn't find it. Only found the Ostergaard's phone number. This is rediculous and she should leave town. She needs to move to the back hills of Wyoming where she has no nice neighbors. But to need a restraining order against the idiot's husband is unbelievable. Some people need to get over it. Whatever "it" is for them. Prozac is your friend.

I would like to knock on her door at midnight and leave a brown bag of dog poop on her doorstep, on fire. Now that would be fun.

You know, this just takes the "You kids get off of my lawn!!!" too far.

The woman who sued was 49 years old. My parents are older than that, and a knock on the door at 9-10pm certainly wouldn't cause an anxiety attack. Perhaps if she has these sorts of problems she should have a medical condition warning on her door to warn away people due to her anxiety disorder.

Even so, she had the opportunity to be a good person about it and understand where the girls were coming from, and even have her medical bills taken care of. She refused, and went to small claims court to "get some justice". Occasionally all of us can be a little self-righteous, but this one really steps over the line. The "I hope they learned a lesson" comment is why people are afraid to do good things for others in society these days. As for her thinking she'll have to move...maybe she should have considered the ramifications of sueing. If I were the judge, I'd have told her that if she had an anxiety problem, she should have posted warnings, or no tresspassing signs. The girls did nothing wrong.

if i were living in that town, and met that woman on the stteet and she was having some emergency - say she was having a fit or a heart attack or whatever - i would not help her.
this is a case where letting such a person die is doing a good thing for the gene pool.

hmm maybe someone should tell the girls that not having that heart problem sign on the house, they could sue the old women

well i live in colorado springs, maybe i could find her number

i love this line from the news article "She thought perhaps they were burglars or some neighbors she had tangled with in the past, she said."

i can see this case on the people's court now, which i watch everyday on my break at work

there's follow-ups

"We just put them on the plane. Lindsey, Taylor and Jill (Taylor's mother) are headed to New York to do 'Good Morning America,"' Martha Zellitti, Lindsey's mom, said Friday night."

links to the right of the main one, people are sending them money, thousands so far

An anxiety attack you think is a heart attack that you visit the ER the next day for? BS!

She was either looking for money, attention, or both.

Whoever suggested Prozac is on the mark if you have generalized anxiety disorder.

What a world we live in eh. Unfortunately it takes all kinds. Have no fear though God may wear pjs but he don't sleep. That old lady has brought so much bad karma down on herself she'll wish she'd thanked the kids instead of trying to take them to the cleaners.
