I'd say much worse then that about him. Letting a person lose part of his finger just so you'll have a better case to sue........

Yeah, I read that, and it made my blood boil.

The lawsuit is soooo important that I don't want you to have full use of your hand again, kid. Sorry.

I think that if that part of the evidence is admissible in a lawsuit, the guy won't get a dime...and more likely than not, he'll lose the countersuit for his selfish, arrogant behavior. We can only hope.

I have to question the manager on duty at the shop on this. Knowing that an employee just cut the end of his finger off in a mixer, I wouldn't care how much product I had to scrap, I would not sell out of that machine until it had been cleaned out. The customer should have never gotten it in the first place.

I'm thinking along the same lines as Tornado here. Exactly how does this happen? How does one lose a finger in a custard mixer then serve out of it while your employee holds a towel around his hand? It must have been immediately clear which one it was lost in.

Well.. it was chocolate soft serve. It's not like they were serving red colored vanilla or something.

"I lost my finger in that batch of chocolate."

"Serve it anyway."

or

"Damn, I lost my finger."

"Where?"

"Dunno. I guess it will turn up."

Neither of these seems like a solid way to run things.

Plus it's the 2nd time an employee lost a finger in less than a year. The managerment should have his finger chopped off too.

I read that, but after reading it, a health dept. investigation apparently revealed that it was an employee error.

Do remember (no offense to our bretheren in the fast-food trenches) that you don't have to be the sharpest knife in the drawer to work at a place like Kohl's Frozen Custard.

For Kohl's, Sunday's fingertip amputation was the second time in less than a year that a worker lost a finger on the same frozen custard machine. The worker was found by investigators to have been negligent in the July 2004 incident, and the state Labor Department cleared the company of wrongdoing.
