There you go, encouraging me to spend more money. How sharp is the text etc when compared to a good crt?

Btw, rebates total $70 on the BB site. Did you miss one or is it a date of purchase issue?

Hmm, $285 after rebate now. Not bad and it would save a little more desk space.

Do you have any pixel problems? Do you know anything about Samsung's failed pixel policy?

the screen quality is insanely clear

using it with monster dvi cable

pixel policy really doesn't appply to me because if anything happens to it i return it to best buy

16x12:

contrast and brightness is a little low for my tastes on that 21"

and we carry this model in our store, response time is id like to say 21-25ms, way to slow for a gaming monitor

thus why i opted for this 8ms samsung with 700 contrast and 300 brightness

edit - yep 25ms response time, very icky: http://www.anandtech.com/displays/showd ... i=1974&p=3

My Dell 1905 is supposed to arrive at work shortly to replace my 21" CRT. It will be nice to reclaim some desk space.

At home, I've had a Samsung Syncmaster 900p for quite some time now. Still does what I want, and budget concerns will keep me from an LCD replacement for it for some time.

Circuit City has the Samsung 730B on sale for $250 after rebates.

I purchased one last night and it looks much better than the one on display at Circuit City. I guess the store staff didn't take the time to configure the monitor properly.

As I type, I'm running the Samsung lcd (dvi port) and a KDS crt in dual display mode. The crt monitor is a little more crisp than the samsung. Nothing to complain about and I'm more interested in reclaiming desk space. But, a good crt still looks a little better to my eyes.

Thank you guys for turning me towards the samsung lcd. The view angle, response time, warranty and brightness etc are all very nice!

Thanks,
bill

FYI, Circuit City has again changed their return policy. They are now charging a 15% restocking fee for opened packages. The store clerk said they will waive the restocking fee if you exchange for the same or similar item..

10-4, Bill.

Because of the manufacturer's dead pixel return policies, I wouldn't buy and LCD anywhere but a walk-in store that confirms a no questions asked, 100% satisfaction return policy without the 15% restocking bite.

I've had this 17" Samsung LCD for almost two years now and it's the best. I actually brought my PC down to the store to check it out there. But that was when it as $400 and a lot bigger mistake to buy a bad one.

What would you guys consider the 'best' LCD out there? 19" and 17".... Just curious what some people have noticed....

For both sizes, the differences between the Samsungs and those that some may think are better are almost imperceptible.

Samsung is the only brand with a 3/36 warranty.
