Thinking of Buying

So the last few days I have really thought about buying a condo. I have no problem buying. I think I could afford it but at the same time it's a lot of money. A condo here could buy me a large house in TX.
Right now it looks like a 1 bedroom 1 bath condo in Walnut Creek CA for about 300k
Making payments w/ HOA and taxes about $2,700 a month.
I know that might be more than some people here make a month or more than what they may pay on their own house payment, but Location Location Location.
So what are some of your guys (girls?) thoughts?

Housing market is starting to slump a bit and in some areas Condos are starting to not sell as quickly as before. 300k for basicly a 1 bedroom apartment that you own seems insane but that's California for ya. I pay 600 a month to rent a 2 bedroom small house here in Oregon, admittedly it's a very cheap price but it can be done. Really explore your options and areas before plunking down a bunch of money on something like that. I'd much rather have a standalone house at that price rather then a apartment, especially if it's not a rental to make income on but a home for youself for some years.

Do it. It's a great investment. Considering what you spend on dates, you shouldn't have any problems making monthly payments. Chicks also like guys with their own place.

well this is part of the draw back. not that chicks like guys with their own place, but that i wouldn't date anymore. Well at least for 2 years when i gain enough bussiness to pay for both dates and my place.

You don't need to stop dating. They just don't need to be as elaborate. Maybe girls will actually see the real Monte this way?

Don't worry about not having money for dates after you buy.
Once they see your place, they'll pay for the dates!

I cant even imagine paying that for a condo. WOW!
I pay $550 a month for my house and I own it. 4 bedroom 2 bath. More reasons to never go back to California was there once in my truck and refuse to go back.
