its fun reading these old posts. thinking that in 5 short years the computer power we've accomplished as a society. looking at my computer in my signiture, that skulltrail can't even begin to touch the computing power of my current system

Was looking at all the OLD posts you jumped back into and realized I did buy a Sony 500a DVD burner back in the day right after all the posts about it. I think I paid 350 cash at fry's for it and only kept it a year or so and dumped it for like 50 bucks when the newer, faster, and cheaper Liteons and NEC 2500 burners came out.
I gave away all my Liteon 811 burners but still have that NEC 2500, it was such a awesome burner in it's day as far as quality, plus a free upgrade to DL burning.
My latest rig is a hex core AMD 1090t with 8 gig and win7 ultimate 64 with a old ATI 4870x2 video card that still does pretty good. I still have a bunch of burners in here but now I mainly capture all my video in HD from my 3 tuner HD HomeRun prime, edit the caps down, and watch them on my network to one of my media player boxes so no need to burn disks much anymore.
It is fun to see what we were excited about back in the day and I never thought I'd be using this box mainly as a really powerful media center with it networked in my house, which I bought about 7 months ago, didn't ever think that would happen either :)

if i remember right I believe I bought dru-500a sony dvd burner as well. was my first dvd burner

I got started in the whole burning scene because I met Aviationwiz on here, we became fairly good online friends and even met in person once maybe even twice. It's sad to say but we really don't talk anymore, we got older and moved on with our adult lives. He travels all over the world and I see where he's been and going on Facebook

Yeah funny how life gets in the way #-o We're still trying to get ahead after buying this house so I'm always broke now. This place doesn't get as much traffic as it used to but it's still one of my favorite places and I started out on here when 32x CDRW burners first came out, I had lots of money then.
If you wanna check out my house adventures it's in here a few posts down. So happy I have my own place now and it's way bigger with 4 bedrooms and still cost me about 100 less then renting my old 2br POS, just getting a handle on utilities and taxes still
Glad it sounds like life is going good for you too and the 500a was my first DVD burner too, having both formats of DVD blanks was a great option.
