i don't think guinea pig = cat food, guinea pigs are big enough and they can kick cat's ass. they can't do that with dogs though...

I've seen a squirrel fight off a cat, so a guinea pig probably has a reasonable chance against a cat. I'm fairly sure that in a battle to the finish the cat would prevail, but at the expense of fairly high probability of injury. And in the real predator/prey world, a predator will only go after the prey that it can get with minimal risk of injury. It is no good for the predator to make the kill but get injured in the process, because in the wild that probably means the predator dies also, just more slowly.

But, we've already seen photographic evidence that guinea pigs have no trouble taking down glocks. But, hmmm, what about Rugers?

interesting cage you have. i have a cage that is made of a plastic tray and metal-wire mesh on top of that to close off the sides and top.

i'm surprised that blue didn't eat those cardbaord boxes of the camera film. my guniea pigs will eat almost anything when they're loose on the floor: newspapers, books, nylon bags, the plastic casing of the phone line (that runs nailed to the wall just above the side-panels), the plastic of electricity cords of appliances and TV cables, shoes, furniture, whatever!

no, thank goodness.
but on some of them they got through all of the insulation and the bare copper(?) was exposed!
since then they have much less freedom to run around the house, get behind the TV trolley and munch on electricity (and phone) wires.

i can put up with having to clean up their droppings (quite neat actually. guinea pigs droppings are like small brown sausages, dry and not messy at all) and wiping up their piss (not as pleasant to clean up). but worring about their being fried by electricity, well that's too much.

yes, i already commented about that

i don't think cats will eat/kill guinea pigs.
when i lived in a house with a graden and a lawn, i'd take them out to the lawn, they liked to eat the grass.
the neighbourhood cats would sometimes come close and stare (before i chased them away), but they never actually tried to touch them or harm them. i think a guinea pig is a bit too big for a cat to handle.
not that i would put it past them to try...

a hamster, on the other hand, is just up a cat's alley....

Glad to hear it. My sister had a rabbit with a penchant for chewing who got a mild shock. But he didn't learn his lesson. Less than five minutes later he was back trying to chew on the cord again (of course my sister intervened the second time around once she knew what the rabbit was doing) I guess rabbits aren't all that bright...
