Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers

I went with a bunch of the guys from work to see LOTR today. Not a bad flick. As a big Star Wars fan.. it makes me sad to say this, but this movie makes EP2 look crappy in comparison.

I didn't like how they cut the second book short at the end.

I saw it today too. I thought it was at least twice as good as the first movie.

Umm...that's not saying much :(

Ep1 & 2 just were not that good. Ep2 was better than 1, but still...
I hope Ep3 lives up to the legacy of the orginal 3 movies...

I have not seen LOTR-TT yet, but SW-EP2 was very good IMO. It explained a lot of things that was previously unknown and I just loved it.
EP1 was some sort of kid's movie IMHO.

The way Gollum talked reminded me of Jar Jar for some reason.

I saw the first showing at 12:01 AM Wednesday Morning. This movie is off the hook and I really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was some of the slow sections in the middle and how they kept cutting to different scenes like during the battle of Helm's Deep.

Never watch movies past midnight, AMC turned off the A/C and it got really hot and stuffy during the film. :(

Yes I did see it today! It was awesome. Like Ian, I am a huge SW fan, but this blew Ep 2 away. Of the 3 hours, probably an hour and a half was the battle for Helms Deep. I was pretty much riveted to my seat the entire time!

I don't know what else I can say that won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it :( . Just GO SEE IT!!!

I had to get advanced tickets for the 2:15 Ultrascreen. Dave didn't say he wanted to go when I mentioned it like a million times...

just back from seeing the film.

well, it is a good movie and very enjoyable, definitely more so than SW episode II.

[going into rant mode]

however i was very disappointed with how much the story deviates from the book. much much worse than the first film (Fellowship of the Ring).

...

there's an expression in Hebrew (is there an equivalent/translation in English?) - "Tolkien must be turning in his grave now", seeing what was done to his work.

i wonder, how and from whom the producers/director/writers got the permission to use the story and to change it. JRRT was very meticulous, pedantic and inflexible about his work and it being changed. i know he wouldn't have approved. his son Christopher continued his work, published some of his unpublished writings, wrote about his work etc. it would seem unlikely that he would participate in what JRRT would probably consider a raping of his work.

or maybe it's just a LOT of money?
