Pioneer DVD-120

I recently purchased a Pioneer DVD-120 drive, and everything installed fine as far as I can tell. My device manager shows the drive and says everything is working properly, but when I click on the drive icon in My Computer, it says the drive is inaccessible and I have performed an "incorrect function." Does anyone know what the fahk is going on?

Does this happen with all discs, or with only one disc?

It gives me the error message whether I have a disc in the drive or not.

Do you know what chipset your motherboard has?

What version of Windows are you using?
Have you installed IDE drivers from the motherboard's manufacturer, or do you have the default Microsoft drivers installed?

I use Windows XP. I have not downloaded IDE drivers, and I am using Microsoft's standard drivers as far as I know. When I installed the drive, Windows recognized the drive with no issues. I clicked the icon and got the error message. I checked the device manager to make sure my drive registered, and everything appears to be fine. I still cannot access the drive, however.

Strange... Can you start up the computer from this drive (like with your WinXP CD)?

what chipset is your mobo? xp4? never heard of it, unless you meant p4x400
