Since I don't yet own DVD writer, I can not test the following. :(

It is possible to make VCDs and SVCDs to compact discs (CD), but is it possible to make long version of VCDs (or SVCDs) to DVD disc?

I mean, if one CD-ROM can hold one 700MB mpg-file and DVD can hold almost seven times more data. So is it possible to put VCD or SVCD compatible mpg-files to DVD and watch them by using normal stand-alone DVD-player or with computer? After that it is possible to put for example 6 episodes of my favourite series to one DVD disc (eventhough the quality is not as good as DVD can hold).

How about subtitles in DVD? Without knowing much about DVD format, is it possible to put subtitles of those mpgs to somewhere and DVD players can get them automatically and show them?

Thanks!

You can with VCD(352x240 NTSC) but SVCD resolution(480x480 NTSC)is not in the DVD specs. The only thing you would have to change in a VCD is the audio samplerate(44.1khz->48khz).
As for subtitles SVCD and DVD support them and there are freeware programs that make them but I've never tried them.
