What are they thinking when anyone can get a 48x 165/166 DVD-ROM for <$35USD?Also their LTR-52246S/LTR-52327 reads at 52x and can be had for <$50.

Caveat Emptor

Yeah, I'm not seeing much of a point for this drive-or any other CD-ROM-only drive.

With Lite-On's 52x CD-RW drives running about under $40 (didn't Best Buy have 'em for $20 w/MIR recently?), and the DVD/CD-RW combo drives around $50, what's the point? Even if this is only $20 or so, why not just spend the ~$15 or so and get a burner?

It sounds like a nice drive (for a CD-ROM), but I also prefer spending a few dollars more and getting a recorder. After all, an OEM 52327S only costs about $40 shipped at NewEgg.

$40.50(+free 2nd day shipping) at www.zipzoomfly.com for the retail box(1 CD-R and Nero 5.5).

It should be quite good for on-the-fly burning. I'll probably go get it and couple up with SOHC-5232K.

I'm considering this 527-T drive and Mitsumi 54x FX5411M. It's hard to decide which one to buy and couple up with SOHC-5232K. Any suggestion?

thx.
