How important is the size of a buffer in a DVD-ROM drive? Most of them have 256kbytes while some (i think liteon 166s) have 512kbytes. Does it affect the burning process or the reading of DVD-R/+R and how much?

Currently I have about 6 DVD-ROMS lying around here.

And I have noticed that most of them range from what you stated 256 to 512 kb. I may even have one that's 128kb.

Honestly I can't tell if it makes any difference to the playback of DVD's.

As to the second part of your question, I don't have a DVD burner so I can't answer that.
