Hello everyone!
A friend has an audiocd in bad condition. It obviously plays in her stereo but refuses to work correctly in the computer (she tried it in both her cd and dvd-drive). I've tried CDEX for extracting, and it reports that there are audio tracks on the disc so it seems ok I guess. Btw i Think CDEX reports a negative offset on the first track, wierd eh? However extraction always fails. I tried copying the tracks in Alcohol 120% but it immediately aborts reporting that something is very wrong (don't remember the error message at the moment)..
Is there a way of dumping the CD as "RAW image" somehow for manually extracting the audio in someway in for example Adobe Audition, would this be possible?
And I am 100% sure that this is not affected by copy protection since its a really old CD.
Anyone got experience of extracting audio of "damaged" audio cds?

Method 1?
Use Nero CDSpeed to reduce the drive speed down to 4X

Use foobar2000 and "check" limit CD reading speed for the CDDA plugin

IF YOUR DRIVE SUPPORT IT! SOME DRIVE DON"T SUPPORT SPEED CONTROL

method 2
if limiting the Drive speed doesn't work, then use burst mode, the highest speed to rip it

if still fail......
use different models of cd drive to rip
if the disc can be played on stereo, it can also be played in cd-rom
you have to find a drive that is capable in handling serious errors

I've had good results with exact audio copy. It's very persistent in the secure mode, so bring some time along or (if you're not overly particular) try the burst mode.

EAC busrt mode worked very well for bad CDs

from what i've read , burst mode is better than secure for badly scrathed CDs
