Anyone try this yet? It lets you select DVD read speed for each DVD or just change the default setting or what? Also, does FS07/FS09 mean you should have FS07 first before you flash? Thank you.

Yes. We wouldn't have released it if it hadn't been tested.

The package is only 423KB in size. Shouldn't take long to download; the readme inside will explain everything.

(Basically, the package contains no patched firmwares; it instead contains a small patcher that will create a patched firmware based on what speeds you want.)

After reading the document information, I decided not to try this. I don't ripping or burning of DVDs for it to be worthwhile for me. Besides, the DVD ripping that I do will most likely be done with my Asus E616-P3 instead. I haven't installed either one yet, but will be installing both drives this weekend.

Of course, the idea of maybe setting the DVD read speed to 12X instead of 16X as suggested in the document information is a tempting possibility so don't count me completely out yet.;)

I have tried it and set DVD+R/-R max speed at 12x and pressed DVD-ROM DL max speed at 14x. Works great.

Got my Lite-On DVD-ROM working. No firmware flashing needed because it's already at FS09. Although, this patch firmware thing is sounding more and more intriguing. 8)

Well, the damn Asus DVD-ROM isn't recognized yet, must get that one working first. See Ya!

I'll change my sig later.
