Here you could see that it uses a DVD-drive from LG with S-ATA.

Again I wonder why the drive manufacturers donĀ“t bring drives with S-ATa to the retail market.

Apparently the chipsets that control the SATA ports are too varied at the moment for complete SATA optical penetration (From what I can see, they ONLY support native Intel SATA chipsets fully). Take a look at Plextor's SATA DVD-RW drives (I'm pretty sure Plexy is the only SATA optical drive manufacturer at the moment) @ newegg and read the reviews. Horrendous. Even worse with their ludicrous MSRP (more than 2x Benq's superior 1640).

Samsung has a SATA drive as well. I talked to them about it a few weeks back and they probably aren't going to bring it to the US market due to technical problems with users.

Liteon have (had?) a S-ATA CD-burner, MSI have a S-ATA-Combo-drive.
