New to dvd authoring

I have a few .avi anf mpegs the I want to burn on to my new dvd. What is the best way to do this?
I would like to keep the file as they are.......it dont want to convert to what ever.
I am planning to burn 5-6 files on to each dvd, and make some kind of menu so that I can play the files from the menu.
How do I go on about doing this. Any ideas?
