Hello everyone!!

I have a lil problem, i riped the movie 50 first dates in my hard drive. using DVD2SVCD. the rip was fine..i have all the .VOB files, I also have a .IFO file.

Heres all the files.
VTS_09_0.IFO
VTS_09_1.vob
VTS_09_2.vob
VTS_09_3.vob
VTS_09_4.vob
VTS_09_5.vob

Now, i read about the DVD,, it follows a special structure.. suppose to be a Video_TS.IFO & other files...

I also tryed burning only the VOB files directly with NERO, but the DVD disk is not playable with PowerDVD. i guess because of those missing files in the DVD structure.

How can i fix this. is there a way i can copy the movie on DVD & make a playable with PowerDVD & all other DVDPlayers.

Thanks

You can patch the .ifo using IFO Edit.

or use DVD2ONE to extract the main movie (no menu or special features, but chapters are intact).

IFO edit is a free tool.
DVD2ONE is not.

Or try DVDSHRINK to shrink the movie.

Or you can completely re-author the movie using Nero Recode.

Personally, I use DVD Decryptor to rip the whole DVD into an .ISO file.
Mount the ISO into a virtual drive.
Run DVD2ONE to extract only the main movie into a folder.
Burn it with Nero 6.

DVD2ONE makes a compliant file for Nero.

Works every time.

Takes about 40 minutes from start to finish.

DVD2ONE can also shrink the whole DVD to fit onto 1 disc.

More from DVD2ONE

The question may be more basic. A video DVD normally contains 2 folders:
- VIDEO_TS
- AUDIO_TS

The AUDIO_TS folder is usually empty. But you have to put your VOB and IFO files in the VIDEO_TS folder and not in the root directory of the Nero (or whatever) project. Nero will automatically create these folders in a DVD-video project.

you know dvdshrink can do all that in one step after you hit the backup button

I've never really used shrink.

I'll have to give it a try. I do have it installed, I've just never run it.
