Converting MKV to a format which fits on a DVD fpr PS3

Guys,

I have some downloaded films in MKV format and want to play them on my PS3. I converted it to AVCHD using ts muxer however the file size was too much for a standard DVD. The file size on download looks like its been compressed to fit to a DVD but during convertion it goes over the DVD size.

Can anyone tell me if its possible to put it onto a DVD somehow? Ideally in AVCHD format.

You'll probably have to change the resolution or bit rate to get it to fit.

THanks for the reply. Do you know how I can do that? Can I do that in TSMUXER or do i need something else?

Not sure. I've never tried resizing AVCHD. I'm guessing something like CyberLink PowerDirector could do it.

VideoRedo plus will edit and split files and convert them to quite a few different formats. I edit and convert all my HDTV .TP caps from my HDTV card with it then after that I run the Mpeg it makes through TSMuxer to make the AVCHD files in it's own folder that I can then burn directly to DVD with ImageBurn.
The trick is to cut the files down small enough to fit one DVD then maybe make a second folder with part 2 if the original file is too big to fit one disk, or use DL disks.
VideoRedo isn't free but they offer a trial version if you want to test drive it and see if it works OK for you. http://www.videoredo.com/en/Download.htm?download=plus they have a forum and web site as well. I'll have to see if it supports your format, I usually do .TP with it and I think it does a few others as well.
