The reason I'm asking is my brandy new NEC 2500A will not work with my Nero 5.5
I'd rather not have to spend ~$80 for Nero 6.
Free utilities sometimes are best, especially because their free.

In my experince, Nero 6 has been very buggy. CopyToDVD is very low in cost, and NOT buggy. If ya gotta use Nero, use the latest 5.x patch.

There are also some free alternives:

CDBurnerXP Pro - nice program, but has a SLOW download server
http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

DeepBurner - A somewhat Nero-ish program
http://www.deepburner.com/

Burrrn - which is an audio-only CD maker http://www.apehaus.com/burrrn/

Opps, missed another free program:
EASY Burning - it's a gui for CDR-TOOLS; has shell intergration (like CopyToDVD).

for burning DVDs, read the FAQs, you need to download separately an additional program (cdrecord-ProDVD) and get (free for personal use) license for it by email from it's author.

Oh yeah...forgot about that one! There's also a version of ImgToolBurn (which is a good, quick, & easy way to make a DVD-Video disc from a VIDEO_TS folder) that works with it. Or a Nero version. Not really needed anymore, since Ahead seems to have fixed the DVD-Video creation problems in Nero.

Depending on what file format I have them in.

Either Nero 6, Alcohol 120% or DVDshrink.
