Burning 20X using a 12X CD Burner

I do just that using SuSE Linux 9.0 and K3b 0.10. Instead of 7 min a 700-MB CD is finished in 4:30 min.
Btw: Instead of 10X CD-RWs are burned at 15X.
The burner: Lite-On LTR-12101B.
Don't ask me why it's possible, I've got no idea.
I'm not kidding!

Are those discs full? K3b doesn't always show the correct burn speeds (although the one with Mandrake 10 seems too).

The disks are full. At the end of burning K3b shows the average burning speed.
For my 12X-burner: 19,80 - 19,95X
For my 8X-burner: 10,80 - 10,90X, i.e. 8 min. for one 700-MB-CD!
Btw: Instead of being burned 10X, CD-RWs in my 12X-burner came out after a 15X burn.
And all disks burned using K3b are OK!

Yeah, I'm betting the program isn't reporting it correctly. Linux isn't know for uh, ease of use, and uh, accuaracy, LOL.

it's obvious you don't know much about Linux and don't have a lot of experience there.

If that's supposed to be a glitch, I like it!
So much for a new definition of "glitch" ...
