Hi !

I am using Nero6 and Samsung SM-352
After burned some AudioCD, there is lots of "cracking sound" when listening ......

I have tried all burning speed and many method....
such as, CD Copy, extract all audio tracks then burn to AudioCD etc...
(the slowest I can choose is 8x)

But the "cracking sound" is still there......

Can you tell me how to burn a good and clean AudioCD ?

Is the crackling sound in the extracted audio files or just on the CD?

Have you tried other media?

JUST ON the CD ......!


I've played all the extracted tracks (44.1kHz,16bit .wav),
and even mount the AudioCD image then play it.
The sound is good.

I have also tried some media - some different brand CDR disc, CDRW...
And also tried burn on an old 8X burner (in other PC)......

In some cases, the Cracking Sound is just reduced......but still audiable !

I totally haven't any ideal...........
Any reasons cause it ????
Any solutions ??

Do I need to read sub-channel on normal AudioCD ...... ?

Yes, test listened on AudioCD Player, CDROM, DVDROM, DVD Player....

Of course some has less cracking (the same disc)......

Is it so called "Normal" ?
Bcoz of CDR media defect......or burner problem ?

No, thats not normal. Personally, I don't think its the media. You've tried slowing the writing speed, etc. To see if its the drive, you might want to try it in another computer. If you get the same results there, you'll know what the cause is.

First make sure DMA is enabled and two, that you are using a good IDE cable. Sometimes people slap in the new drive using the old IDE cable that came with the computer. Switch the old cable with the one that came with the drive and hopefully you have better results.

Of course I know it !
And my PC is not OLD !


VIA KT600, 80GB ATA100
using 80pin ATA100 cable for ALL channels !
DMA ON for all channel under WinXP SP1
VIA all-in-1 driver installed.

HD and burner are in seperate channel too !

The slowest burning speed I can choose is 8X.
That's why I stuck in it....

As I have said before,
I have also tested burn a AudioCD in other OLD PC,
8X Ricoh burner,
still got noisy disc....

totally no ideal what the hellllllll........

Can you give me some hits to burn AudioCD ?

As I know, Lowest burning speed is a must !
What else ?

new to posting on forums so bare with me... crackling on a disc could possible be power supply. U said u tryed to burn same data on another computer and same or simmilar results ?q1 were both computers connected to the same wall socket if there is a loose ground wire (on/or) a bad plug u could get feed back this only applys if both pcs were plugged in in the same room and interconnected or the same recepticle down the line inline on the same breaker hope the will help p.s. if only one computer was used it could be a fauilt ziener diode or rectifier can cause poping noises that can be heard throught the pc speakers at odd time or even recorded when put under a load but not heard from the pc speakers while burning or playing on the originating pc..
