Man the DVD HD camp is sloooooow...kind of makes you wonder how it ever got off the ground to begin with.

Blue Ray is slowly getting a strangle-hold

Blu-Ray will kick the crud out of HD-DVD if only because "Blu-Ray" sounds cooler  and come on, have you SEEN the HD-DVD logo? They aren't even trying anymore!

Hello!

I had VHS-recorders from JVC, high quality and very reliable.

I´m sure that JVC will bring us some great Blu-Ray-drives :)

I think Blu-Ray is a winner for computer storage.

But for set top players? Hollywood studios get to decide that, as sick as it sounds :)

If they don't publish content on that format, all the compression formats and expanded storage capacity mean diddly squat.

Well, Sony and MGM are pretty big players when it comes to movies... and Fox entertainment isn't too small either!

We may yet see the complete "failure" of the official format to replace DVD.... I'd find that utterly hilarious personally! :D

Blu-Ray is slowly pushing out HD-DVD out of competition.

I wouldn't mind the failure of hd dvd in the long run. Still, I hope it stays there long enough to drive down the cost of the content, empty media and drives (through price competition) :)

However, Fox is not announcing any releases of BD movies yet:

There's a LOT of arms wrestling going behind the scenes as major royalty streams, competitive camps and much else is being decided with who wins.

LOL, and neither format has really even gone to market yet. ;) (there are a few BD devices, but extremely pricey and limited)
