It is funny to notice that at the same time Pioneer demonstrated
a Blu-Ray model called BDR-101 (without the letter A) at the IFA in Berlin:

So I think some photos of this drive will be in the public domain now ..

This news ends with:
« Note that the Pioneer BDR-101 and the BDR-101A are different models, offering different functionalities. More information on this will be available soon »

So I hope soon is soon !

Not to worry.... we wouldn't let a little thing like Pioneer USA not sending us free drives stop us from reviewing them!

Actually, I think it's a plot on Pioneer's part to make sure they get better scores. Since at least speaking for myself, I feel obligated to give a higher priority to drives donated for review, over drives I've had to aquire personally.... so Pioneer drives would be reviewed later then if they were sent by Pioneer themselves! But since Pioneer's initial firmwares are lame pathetic crippled versions of what comes out 4 or 5 months after the drive is released, not reviewing the drive right away almost certainly guarentee's Pioneer higher scores. Sneaky little devils aren't they? :o

We have a pretty good relationship with Pioneer USA these days. They are slow to send out drives though.. to everyone. I'm not really sure why either. They'd be smart to send out review units right away.. not 4-5 months after the product initially shipped. By then, its already old news.

I don't think Pioneer really cares if people post pictures of the drive at say IFA. They just didn't want any detailed information posted yet.
