Assuming you were to buy an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray drive for a PC, looking mainly from the data storage persepective, at what price point would you be willing to buy one?
I remember buying my first DVD burner (2x, -R/-RW only) for $420 Cdn. back in Dec. 2002. I burned maybe 30-40 DVDs in all of 2003, looking back at it now I don't think it was worth it. :P

I'd wait for one to get down to about $200 Cdn. before toying around with it now and using it to store data. I'm not much of a movie person. :P
Prices in the poll are in $US.

I'll be looking for about $400-$500 CAD for my first drive. BluRay, not HDDVD

I missed out early adopting CDR and DVD technology, but I'm not going to miss out on BluRay :D

I'm more concerned about the price of the media than the price of the drive tbh... the media would have to drop down under $5 per disk (single-layer), which will take a while I think.

If the media was cheap though, I wouldn't mind paying maybe $200-$300 for the actual drive. With a little luck by the end of the year, it may be possible...
