Any word on when BluRay recordable media will be affordable?

This week I see LG's Blu-Ray recorder on sale at FutureShop for $499. I remember buying my first 2x DVD-R burner at the end of 2002 for $420 or so. However I could find el-cheapo Princo media back then for about $2/disc. (Believe it or not, these are still readable to this day). At this stage, the cheapest BD-Rs are something like $15-$20. Does anyone know when these will start coming down in price?

Well, CompUSA had Sony BD-Rs for $10 not too long ago... I would think that's a sign of things to come. I don't think it will be long until BD-R prices plummet into the several dollars per disc range.

Well, we need demand to increase first. But pricing has already dropped about 2-3x times on the wholesale level... but people who brought in stock (even only 10pcs) haven't sold it all yet, so we need to wait for that old stock to sell. Then you'll see pricing closer to $13-$15.
