I figured some of you guys would want to see this. Here are some screenshots of Panasonic's new 4x 50GB BD-R DL media and the LG GGW-H20L burning it at 4x.

While 45 minutes isn't exactly fast, its a lot better than the 90 minutes it takes to burn at 2x. :P

That's a pretty good start for this media! :D It took DVD+RDL a long time to get past its startup pains. Interesting that 1x isn't supported according to CD-Speed, but is according to DVD Identifier (but why buy 4x media for 1x?).

I'm curious how a TRT would look. Are there any other quality tests available with the LG?

Scandisc, but I don't think that's very helpful.

I would have done a TRT, but my GGW-H20L is having issues reading discs back. It will only read them back at the same speed it burned them. For example, instead of reading this disc back at 4.8x using CAV, it reads it back at 4x using CLV. This only applies to discs burned by the GGW-H20L too. They do read back fine on the GGC-H20N I have so I don't know what the deal is.

Nice to see things coming along! Historically speaking I've always bought into the new format standard once it reaches 4x recording, so I'll probably be getting a burner soon (i.e. this generation) :P

My first CD-RW drive was a Yamaha 4x4x16x, my first DVD burner was a Lite-ON LDW-401s (4x DVD+R burner).

So I'm really keeping my eye on this new Panasonic drive :D
