LG BH08N 8x Blu-ray Disc Writer

I-O Data released some details on two new Blu-ray Disc writers based on the LG BH08N. If the specs are correct, this new drive is capable of 8 BD-R, 8x BD-R DL, 2.3x BD-RE and 2x BD-RE DL writing speeds and a maximum BD-ROM read speed of 8x. According to I-O Data, it can burn an entire 25GB BD-R disc in less than 14 minutes.

The LG BH08LS20 has finally made its way to the US. Best Buy has it for a mere $249.99

I bought two of these (one for each box). I haven't used them to burn any Blu-ray discs yet but they're faster than my DVD burners were at reading discs.

Yeah, this drive smokes. One of the best things about it is that it will write to pretty much any BD-R media at 8x. Here's a Ritek disc

Cool. Now I have more of a reason to buy some BD media sooner rather than later.
