Hi All,

Has anyone had any experience with the external variety of blu ray drives?

Ive decided I now want one, but despite all my time spent looking for reviews on the web, I have been unable to come to a satisfactory conclusion as which one to get.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I'm not sure where you're located, but LG and Buffalo both sell a number of external BD writers. Otherwise you could just buy an external case and put in whatever internal drive you want.

Thanks Ian,

I am located in the UK.

It completely slipped my mind about using an external case. Probably because I have had problems in the past with them. Specifically HDD drives.

So again, sorry, could you tell me the best writer at about £150.00 (Im guessing that is somewhere in the region of $250.00) and the best case manufacturer too.

Thanks again Ian

If it was me, I'd go for something like the Pioneer BDR-205 or LG WH10LS30. I'm not up on the latest external enclosures and chipsets. If it was me though, I'd look for something that supports eSATA or USB 3.0, especially if you want to read or write at speeds faster than 8x. If not, USB 2.0 should be fine.
