Looks like Ian forgot to post this in forum or maybe I´m to blind to see ;)

Nice review, again :D

Looks like another solid drive from LG, but still the old not-nice-features.The riplock is still a bigprob for those who like to read Video-media.

What u think about BD-scans with a Liteon-drive?

Thanks Scour. I've been a little lax in posting links to reviews in the forum.

I'm still not sold on BD scans with a Lite-On drive. No one has done a comparison between those results and a calibrated testing system so its not even known if they're accurate. I was hoping that Plextor would at least say which results were "good" with PlexUtilities, but they're probably just as confused as the rest of us.

Plextools are almost the same as Opti Drive Control and the Plextor 950 is a rebadged Liteon, I guess. But Opti drive control gets no update and I dunno what happens in future :(

Looks like we don´t can make quality scans with BD, what a pity

To bad these tools only work with MTK-chipsets

One of the nastiest drives I have yet to encounter. Says that it will write to Verbatim BD-R 6X at 12X...doesn't...writes at 10X. Then I used Opti Drive Control to look at the quality of the burn and it was all RED! Tried a few other brands of BD-R media and burn speeds were below spec and horrible quality. I have an i7 950 machine running two HDDs in RAID 0, so the drive runs in AHCI mode. That mode doesn't effect the burn quality of my Pioneer BDR-205, but not sure about the LG. I wanted a newer drive to supplement my Pioneer...and this ISN"T it! If you see a good deal on this burner...RUN AWAY! Stick with Pioneer, Sony or Lite ON

Maybe he used the Scandisk-function, not Disc Quality

I used Opti Disc Control 1.50 and my Samsung SE-506AB...Disc Quality Function. I verified that the Samsung is a pretty reliable reader, by comparing it's scans with a LiteOn 112. The drive was really bad using Verbatim and TDK media.

I thought Liteons-BD-scans also not verry reliable

I don't know why the drive performed so badly. Replaced it with a Pioneer BDR-207 and burns and scans are incredible! Maybe an isolated incident, but not sure.

I think the Pioneer is one of the best, maybe the best BD-Writer. But LG shouldn´t be that bad with good media

Every company produces the occasional lemon... even LG.

I know ;)

The BH10-series known for quality-probs if u burn @high speed, but with lower speeds it works not that bad.

Liteon have also probs, especially with LTH-type

I'm pretty sure that was fixed long ago.

Any time you push media beyond its rated speeds, you're gonna run into trouble. 6x BD-R media at 10x? Uh.. yeah. How about 14x?

The review in c´t is from end august 2011.

A eHBU212 was tested with RL15, dunno whether a new FW exist (you need the writer and the Smartpack-SW to look for new FW)

Pioneer 206 wrote to 6x Verbatim HTL @12x, LG BE12LU30 @10x

Has anyone taken a look at the new Pioneer portable Blu-Ray drive?

What does this have to do with the BH12LS38? It's not even a portable?
