thinking of either getting the LG WH16NS40 which is currently on sale for $59 after discount code at:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136269

or..... saving up for the Pioneer BDR-2209.

any thoughts?

any chance we will see a review of this Pioneer around here any time soon? Anybody have one?

Never had any issues with any of the LG burners I've used. They don't tend to update the firmware much but also they tend to work fine right out of the box. The few Pioneer burners I've used have been nice as well so I think it's kinda a tossup but the LG wins on price and features alone I think.

thanks for your thoughts, Dartman. You are talking about Blu-Ray burners, right?

Yep, kinda considering one myself, still have the original LG that reads HD DVD and burns BluRay so probably need a newer more up to date one now.
BUT not huge on my list as I just got another 2TB external drive to keep up with all my HD video captures from my HD HomeRun Prime. Best Buy had the better USB 3.0 one on sale on their eBay site for 90 bucks with in store pickup so I got one today, has a 2 year warranty too and is a Seagate.
I'll keep saving up my payments from doing online surveys and get one soon, which is what I used to buy my big drive :-)

Not that we ever had a great relationship with Pioneer but I don't think they even bother to send their drives out to reviewers any more.

You really can't go wrong with an LG WH16NS40 for $59.
