Must be Sanyo.

I saw a picture of it at CDFreaks; it looks just like Sanyo's CD-RW drives.

I'd be very surprised if they used an OEM Sanyo design but anything is possible.

It doesn't just look like the Accesstek DD0203, it is the Accesstek DD0203. But Optorite is the U.S. branch of Accesstek, and both sell the DD0203. That's why Ian posted that picture.

Anyway, the Accesstek/Optorite DD0203 comes with all the Sanyo technologies, including BURN-Proof and HD-BURN. So it is at the very least based on Sanyo designs if it isn't an outright rebadged OEM product.

I still think, from my hands-on testing of the drive they sent to me, the Accesstek still has some issues. What can you expect from engineering samples though... NEC and PIONEER's Duals look strong though

Banshee,
You say the engineering sample you were testing still seemed buggy. This drive appears to be shipping as a product now, have you had a chance to try the production version fo the drive / firmware?

Also, what was the nature of the problems? I am interested in this drive because I think the HD Burn would be a very convenient feature to have.

Thank you for any information
Jeremy

When writing a disc in Nero, and doing a Very, I consistently get compare errors. Differenct drives write the same files, from the same folder, proeprly, and verify clean.

Also, when Sanyo sold them their drives, the f/w had - mediasupport disabled. Optorite renabled it, and I think the initial ones are still not too reliable on dash media, even though I also have some compare errors on PLUS media as well.
