LG 4120B Firmware Differences/Best Firmware?

Hi,

What are the main differences between the "unofficial" firmware versions and the official ones? I mainly do DVD backups to DVD-R disks. Do some firmwares support bitsetting? (Is bitsetting useful for all formats or just DVD+R's? I've only seen it used in the same sentence as DVD+R). Sorry for all the newb questions, but hey I am a newb so I guess they're warranted. Thanks.

Problems reading DVD on PC, plays fine in Toshiba DVD player

Another question!

I made a backup of my South Park Season 1 Volume 1 DVD in my DVD burner using AnyDVD and Elby CloneDVD 2.x.x.x (don't remember exact ver but it's the newest one) to a DVD-R disk. Using firmware 102, as 104 is only supposed to make a difference for DVD+R's. My burned DVD plays in my Toshiba SD-5109 DVD player in my home theater, but doesn't play properly in my Lite-on DVD ROM or the LG 4120B burner itself! I'm using 8X Ritek R05 media (supposedly good, or so I've heard). Any ideas to improve my burn? This is my first DVD burner and my first ever attempt at backing up a DVD. I'm trying to clone, not shrink, since the original disk is only 4.1 GB and single layer.

Thanks so much to anyone that can help me.

Does anyone have any suggestions for my South Park burn problem?

Some of us believe Ritek media is overrated. I'd try different media, or burn slower than 8X.
