I have a 2510A flashed with Herrie's firmware, v2.16, that allows for booktype setting and I have the book type set for DVD-Rom in Nero as well. Every DVD+R I've written is detected as booktype: DVD+R with DVD Info Pro. Is book type setting only good with discs burned as DVD-Videos? So far I have only burned in ISO mode.

Only thing I can think of is reinstallilng Nero anybody have any ideas.

Just did a full reinstall of Nero even used the cleaning tool to remove the old install still not setting the book type according to DVDInfo Pro.

v2.16 and hacked v2.16 can only do bitsetting for dual layer with a tool called WinBType.exe (or with DVDInfoPro I believe, and Nero is out for this...)

If you want single layer bitsetting, you've got to install another hacked firmware (herrie 1.07betav...) or some HP firmware (see tdb page).

ahh thanks, it's alright to flash my 2510A with this firmware?

How do you upgrade the 2510A to the 107v2b5 firmware? When I tried an error popped up saying that my drive was not a 2500A.

Does anybody know if Herrie is working on 2510 firmware? I know 1.7 beta 5 is based of the 2510 2.15 fw, but I'm wondering if he will have a 2.16 firmware with overspeed, like 1.07 beta 5, and bit setting. It seems silly to only have DL bit setting in the 2.16 firmware and not single layer bit setting. Why not include bit setting for both SL and DL ?

You can.

Take the DOS version and follow instructions.

NEC choose to include bitsetting for DVD+R DL for compatibility reasons.

Herrie's firmware is based on HP firmware. The single layer bitsetting code cannot be copied into the NEC 2.16 firmware code easily...
if you know how to do it... =D>

As far as I know, Herrie is still working on the 2500(=2510) but he is a bit busy. He annouced to some friends that something will be available soon... So stay tuned.

I was told I could flash it with the 107 firmware in DOS. I might try and do that.
