dvd -r dl is coming soon

i though pio had given up -r dl, but it is coming at least according to dvd industry inisder

guess 108 is a waste of money ;)

article is a bit stupid in that it says:

If you’re satisfied with 20 minutes of great video you probably use your burner to write VCDs.

Also, it never said anything about the release of dual layer -r

Well, what I think he might be referring to is DVD on CD. Where you basically create a DVD but only put enough content on it to fill 700 MB.

That's my guess only because VCDs and SVCDs can hold so much more. I have made SVCDs with 45 minutes of video on them with good quality.

I don't get why people are going nuts over this article. This information has been available for months now. Nothing there is really "insider" information.

Slashdot is good, but not for optical drive/media news, in that field, they are terribly slow.
