I own both the Pioneer DVR-108 and the NEC ND-3500A and the Plextor is by far the better drive based on my experience with a wide variety of both cheap and expensive CD/DVD media.

I just downloaded the new firmware 1.05 and will install it later. My Taiyo Yuden is due to arrive in about 4.5 hours.

As Homer once said ..... Wooooo-HOOOOO!

They should make a trick blank disk where when you put it into a ("friend's") burner smoke comes bellowing out of the drive.

:-$

Sheesh, where'd that thought come from!

Wow this Taiyo Yuden looks great but I guess I just realized what they mean 'printable media'. I thought it meant a 'special' layer. It must mean a layer at all.

This is just silvery on top.

To Label disks I use the Sharpie marker; the one described my my Plextor manual.

PLEASE TELL ME I CAN USE THAT ON THESE.

Else I just have to remember what they have on them; a hundred dvds to remember. uhhhhG!

wheeuuuu!

I just looked at a video review of the Casio thermal printer and that disk looks like these so I guess writing on them may be ok, but somebody please let me know.

I do see something here visually with Taiyo Yuden which I've never seen with store bought media. You look at the bottom of these out by the edge, and there is no squiggly reflections. This is beautiful! Also you look at the edges of the disks in the spindle and there are almost none of those squigglys there either. I haven't put this in the drive but it sure looks like the higher priced spread.
