May I ask Which BRAND and the package model code (the product number printed on the outside of the media package) allows DVR-108 burn at 16x?

I just bought the TDK DVD+R 1x-8x Media, but the drive can only burn at MAX 12x.

The Pioneer website show "TDK Corporation(Media ID:TTH01)" can burn at 16x, but then people keep say the ID code, but when you go to buy the media, the package doesn't tell you what "ID" the media is. [Same for other brand too, don't know which ID, until you bought it and use to software to view it in your drive]

On the package I bought only got the ITEM CODE: DVD+R47X25AC

So can anyone tell me where can I find out which ITEM CODE is = the ID code which allows me to burn at 16x

In almost all instances, it is impossible to tell what the media is inside the package. Sometimes there are little clues like the "Made in ... " label, but in most cases, the package is the same regardless of the media contained inside. This is because everyone wants to make the most money possible, and sometimes stuff the cheapest stuff they can get, into the package.

Perhaps someone will have a way to id a 'good' package from the crap, but don't hold your breath.

MXL RG03 (Maxell 8x DVD-R) burns up to 16x on the 108, but it tends to vary on a per-disc basis; some will only burn up to 12x. In the US, this media can be found as Apple 8x DVD-R.
