Stay with DVR-107 or trade for DVR-108

I have the DVR-107 now and find it to be an excellent drive. I have burned about 100 disks with it with no coasters. A friend wants to buy the drive from me for $80 and thus I can buy the DVR-108 for $116 + $17tax for a total of $133.

Is it worth it to make this move ?????

I am an enthusiast and like to have current models, so this is one of the reasons I am considering this move. However, if the DVR-108 is not as rock solid as my current DVR-107, then I would not make the switch regardless of the faster burn speeds and dual layer capability.

I have 2 of the 108 and they are awesome. Defintely worth the money. By the way I also 2 of the NEC 3500a. The NEC are not bad just not as good as the Pioneer.

i'm caught between the 108 and the 3500. on the one hand the 108 seems to offer better writes though is limited to 12x. the 3500 seems to have more hackware. is this a correct assesment? what is it in your (sqlb) view that makes the 108 better than the 3500?

im holding on to my 107 and going with the 109 when it hits

to me 8x writing is fine, especially when i need better quality burns not faster burns

also quick note i owned a 107 and now i have a 108
i am only about 20 burns in on the 108 but it seems as rock solid as the 107
i went with pioneer for 2 reasons
1. quality burns (speed is not an issue)
2. quality rock solid long living burners (108 seems like every other pioneer solid)

You should wait

DL media too expensive, and too much money for upgrading without much benefits ;)

Wait for the 109 which is rumored to come early '05..

By then the DL media should be available everywhere... (hopefully)

I upgraded from the 107 and didn't really notice any difference so I would wait for the 109.

Hello!

I think too, just wait for the next generation of burners. I use a LG 4082 and a Pioneer 107 and both drives are fast enough for me this time.

Maybe I wait for the Plextor 716 or Pio 109 and upgrade to these drives
