IMO, the difference was mainly marketing hype when they drivers and media first came out.
Nowadays hardly anybody even tries to claim that one is truly better than the other for the average user.

I persoanlly go by whatever high quality media is cheaper, since my drives and players all read and play both -R and +R discs.

Playback/Read compatiblity should be your primary concern
then quality
then price.

So there is no place where I will be able to read DVD+R but not DVD-R..
So there isn't a real differece between DVD+R and DVD-R but the price, speed and quality of each and each blank.

I am not sure I understand your first question, at least not fully.
Some older DVD players, for example, might have trouble reading DVD+R.
DVD-R is more compatible with them.
Newer players in many cases read both -R and +R.
I did have trouble reading +R with a newer Panasonic and an older Toshiba.
Sony players are usually quick to recognize, read and then play DVD video content (such as home videos) on -R/+R media.

To answer your second question: essentially yes.
If anyone here disagrees, feel free to give XplOit more feedback.

OK..
Because my father (who is now sleeping in LA) found me a DVD-R disk in 40c and a DVD+R disk is 1$. But he didn't give me the speed or the company.
So you say I should just buy whatever is cheaper (DVD+R or DVD-R) as long as my DVD player can play them both.

Thanks very much,
XplOit

no, it's not just a matter of price.
it also depends on what brands of disc you buy, it's rated speed.
but if your players support both DVD+R and DVD-R then the format is not a consideration. choose your media based on the other factors (brand, quality, price).

Well then...
I still havn't bought my new DVD player but when I buy I will make sure it supports both DVD+R & DVD-R.
Anyway, my father found me a 50 pack (spindle) of DVD+R 4x by Memorex (which did very well in the tests with my new plextor px-712a and can also be burned at 8x and low C1 errors) for only 30$. I think it's a great price sence my father won't go to 10 shops and look on the internet for the very best price. 30$ for me is a great price for a 50 pack of great quality disks.
